Pengaruh Kompetensi Pegawai Terhadap Manajemen Perpustakaan Pada Dinas Perpustakaan Kota Padangsidimpuan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of employee competence on library management at the Padangsidimpuan City Library Service. This research employs a quantitative approach with explanatory research design. The population in this study consisted of 48 employees, comprising 24 civil servants and 24 non-civil servants. The sampling technique used saturated sampling, making the entire population the research sample. Data collection techniques utilized questionnaires with a Likert scale. Data analysis employed simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 21. The results showed that employee competence has a positive influence on library management. This is evidenced by the significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and the t-count value of 2.422 > t-table of 1.679. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.242 indicates that employee competence contributes 24.2% to library management, while the remaining 75.8% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. This research recommends improving the quality of human resources through formal education and training, the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and the implementation of rewards and sanctions for library managers.
