This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and environmental awareness of members of the Urban Aisyiyah Community through the conversion of household organic waste into maggot-based organic fertilizer. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of preliminary surveys, educational outreach, training on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation, practical production of frass-based organic fertilizer (kasgot), mentoring, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. The results indicated a substantial improvement in participants’ knowledge, with average scores increasing from 45.7% before the intervention to 86.7% afterward. Participants successfully practiced waste segregation, cultivated BSF maggots, and processed maggot residue into organic fertilizer suitable for home gardening. The program also contributed to reducing household organic waste while generating environmentally beneficial products. Furthermore, the establishment of a community-based organic waste management group supported the sustainability of the initiative. The findings demonstrate that utilizing household organic waste through BSF maggot cultivation is an effective, practical, and environmentally friendly strategy for community-based waste management and environmental conservation.
2026-06-23T03:32:41+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 SOCIETAShttps://www.jurnalugn.id/index.php/SOCIETAS/article/view/1837Sosialisai Penggunaan Tempat Sampah Sebagai Upaya Mewujudkan Lingkungan Bersih Dan Sehat Di Desa Sitampa Simatoras Kecamatan Batang Angkola Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan2026-07-15T15:16:49+00:00Puspa Riani Nasutionpuspariani972@gmail.comSusi Sulastri Lubispuspariani972@gmail.comNurdalilahpuspariani972@gmail.comSiti Meutia Saripuspariani972@gmail.comNova Christina Dewipuspariani972@gmail.com
Household waste remains a significant environmental challenge in rural areas due to inadequate waste disposal practices and limited public awareness regarding proper waste utilization. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of preliminary surveys, educational outreach, focus group discussions (FGD) on waste disposal, practical distribution of healthy domestic household trash bins, mentoring, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test assessments. The results indicated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with average scores increasing from 42.5% before the intervention to 85.0% afterward. Participants successfully practiced waste segregation, utilized public trash bins correctly, and managed household organic residues suitable for backyard composting. The program also contributed to reducing household waste accumulation while generating environmentally clean village surroundings. Furthermore, the establishment of a community-based village waste monitoring group supported the sustainability of the initiative. The findings demonstrate that socializing trash bin utilization through participatory approaches is an effective, practical, and environmentally friendly strategy for community-based waste management and environmental conservation.
2026-07-15T15:16:49+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 SOCIETAShttps://www.jurnalugn.id/index.php/SOCIETAS/article/view/1838MEWUJUDKAN RUMAH TANGGA MANDIRI FINANSIAL BEBAS JERATAN PINJAMAN ILEGAL MELALUI PENYULUHAN " CERDAS MENGELOLA KEUANGAN KELUARGA : STRATEGI MENGHINDARI RENTENIR DAN MEMANFAATKAN KUR UNTUK USAHA MIKRO PADA IBU-IBU RUMAH TANGGA KELURAHAN PALOPAT MARIA, PADAN2026-07-15T15:18:48+00:00Nirmala Haty Harahapnirmalahati1985@gmail.comAde Maya Mei Shantynirmalahati1985@gmail.comSilviana Batubaranirmalahati1985@gmail.com
This community service activity aims to improve financial literacy among housewives in Palopat Maria Village, Padangsidimpuan Hutaimbaru, so that they can manage household finances wisely, avoid illegal loans or moneylenders, and utilize the People’s Business Credit (KUR) as an alternative source of financing for micro-enterprises. The main problems faced by the community partners include low understanding of family financial planning, limited knowledge of the risks of high-interest loans, and insufficient information regarding access to formal financing for micro-businesses. The implementation method involved participatory counseling, group discussion, simple financial record simulations, and practical assistance in household financial management and KUR application procedures. The results showed an increase in participants’ understanding of the importance of household financial management, the dangers of illegal loans, and the opportunities offered by KUR for small business development. The activity also encouraged participants to become more financially independent and to manage family income more productively. Therefore, this community service program is expected to contribute to the realization of financially independent households that are prosperous and free from the traps of illegal lending.
2026-07-15T15:18:47+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 SOCIETAS
